Dave Lee Travis to light Olympic flame

Following on from the news today that Blur will be joined by New Order and the Specials for a show in Hyde Park to celebrate the closing of the London Olympic Games, IJS has learnt that Dave Lee Travis is set to be announced as the final torchbearer before lighting the Olympic cauldron in the stadium.

'Shit graffiti from 1983'
The former BBC Radio 1 presenter and self styled ‘Hairy Cornflake’ has been selected as the flame lighter from a shortlist including ex-Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan, former co-host of The Word Dani Behr and Julie Goodyear, who played Bet Lynch in Coronation Street.

Travis, or ‘DLT’ as he was known before he was privatised in 1994, will become the latest retro figure to be used in the Olympic drama since the implementation of the ‘Shit graffiti from 1983’ graphic as the official London Olympics logo.

Olympic organisers remain tight lipped as to the special guest for the closing ceremony, although Diana, Princess of Wales has so far failed to respond to questioning as to whether her death in 1997 will prevent her attendance.
